Here you will often find my thoughts of the day, with the occasional vent - but first and foremost this is where I can share my passion for stitching.

First small finish for 2006

Just a really quick post as I'm feeling pretty wrecked today ... pulled a 10-hour shift last night (9pm-7am), and energy levels are a bit lacking ... oh well, 1 shift down, 2 to go, then next week I only work 3 days before having a 2 day break again (which I'll need!).

Managed to finally get my Love needleroll ornament finished - so it's now gracing my smalls basket along with Jenna's Peace ornament :) Will get one more ornament stitched this month as part of an ornament RR - wonder which one it will be?

Other news is that I splurged again - the final part of my Christmas money has gone ... I replaced my copy of Janice Love's "Basics and Beyond" hardanger book - an old work colleague stole my original copy along with over $200 of other books (embroidery ones and Lonely Planets) ... she borrowed them and never returned them, even after many requests, then left work never to be heard from again boohoo. Oh well, I'm glad to have this book back in my library again - it's the best hardanger book around for beginners, and I really want to pick up hardanger again this year.

That's it for me - hopefully I'll be back blogging soon ... I can just imagine all the lovely projects you've been stitching while I've been gone - it's gonna take me a full week to catch up! I've tried loading up Newsgator to try and help to keep on top of blogs, but for some reason it'll only pick up about 1/3-1/2 of your blogs with the RSS feeds - and I don't know why as most people use Blogger ... not my area of expertise, that's for sure!

Hi Anne, good to "see" you again :)
I'll ask my dh about your Newsgator problem. I had something similar for awhile and had to type in another code at the end of the addy when subscribing. But lately I've not had any problems at all. Stay tuned...

Gina, don't know whether you're not getting my posts, but I put a comment on your blog last night before I went to work with my email details. I also thought I'd given it here in my original reply to your comment - sorry if you're having difficulties obtaining it. Here it is again for you, just in case this is the only way you're able to read it ... shakatak at iinet dot net dot au. Just replace "at" with "@" and "dot" with "." - with my crazy and irregular shifts, the best way to contact me is via email - I check those every day ... Hope you get this OK :)

Lovely finish Anne. I was looking at one of your albums and noticed you stitched the Gold Gift of the Magi from Victoria Sampler. Do you plan to stitch the other two as well? I have the charts for all three and embellishment packs but have been nervous about taking on such a huge project.

Great job, Anne! It looks super. :) Hey, if you want to redo the Peace one in it's true colors, I bought the specialty threads for it, they just hadn't come in by the time I stitched that. I'd be willing to swap you some of the Peace threads for the Love threads!

BTW, jf you haven't found the RSS feed link on my blog yet, the URL is http://www.jennamagee.com/weblog/?feed=rss2 - that should work with your feed reader, if you plug it in. If you don't have me in there already. :)

I couldn't agree with you more - the Janice Love books are a great resource. I have the second one - Fundamentals Made Fancy. I use it all the time!

I love that needleroll so much :-) You've done a great job.

I've never seen this book here but I've read good things about it on blogs all over. I have a beginner's guide I bought this past summer and it's been a good resource to have if I'm not sure how to do some of the stitches. I do use the internet as well to locate stitch diagrams to study the stitches more. I'm the kind of person that needs to see a pic to be able to follow instructions :-)

Best wishes,
Rósa

Its lovely your needleroll. I haven't seen that book in the UK, I got an anchor book as I'm dyeing to learn hardanger.

I have that book too! Its a nice book for a beginner like me :)

Sorry to hear that you have lost so many of your books, Anne. I can feel the pain, as I have lost my first copy of the Precious Moment after lending it to one of my colleage! and another colleague returned my craft book with a dirty cover! I feel so heartache as I always treasure all my books. After these incidents, I try not to lend any of my precious collection to others, and I don't care whether they called my selfish or not!
